Fostering Success program helps young professionals who grew up in foster care.
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Children who are raised in the foster care system sometimes lack the exposure and foundation needed to succeed in life, but a summer program at Barry University is working to help that.
Fostering Success is a two-week program at the Barry University School of Social Work.
This reads like a great program. I have a 15 year old femake in my care and I belueve she woukd benefit from the program.
This is a program very much needed before children exit out of the system. I have a situation with a very sweet young woman who is in college, she is 21 and I had her since she was 18. She is in college and home for the summer. Since she has exit out of system, I don’t recieve a stipend for her. She is working 2 jobs, she doesn’t pay any rent, she buy some food items she likes but she also feels entitlment of priviliedges in the home. While I want to see her finish school without having to worry about anything else but studies, I am frustrated that she was not taught to be considerate and wherever she lives, she should help with household chores etc. She is very sensitive or either immune to any critisim.
